Cork Airport welcomes new airline and new route from Cork to Newquay

February 21st, 2007.  Management at Cork Airport are delighted to welcome low fares airline, Air Southwest to Cork. Air Southwest has just announced a new service from Cork to Newquay in Cornwall from just €38 including taxes.
 
Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Air Southwest to Cork Airport. The addition of this new route to Newquay in Cornwall offers passengers the opportunity to sample the delights of the South West of England. “
 
Kevin added: “Newquay is fast becoming the ‘surf capital’ of the UK.  It has also developed its own unique culture and exciting and varied holiday opportunities, with numerous bars and fashionable restaurants as well as first class attractions around the county such as the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum.”
 
Mike Coombes, deputy chief executive at Air Southwest, said: “We expect these flights to be a big hit with the people of the Cork Kerry region looking to visit beautiful Cornwall, and we hope they will generate thousands of new visitors to South West Ireland.”
 
The new flights start on May 4 and tickets are on sale now. They will operate three days a week on Monday, Friday and Sunday throughout May, with a Wednesday flight being introduced from June.
 
Flights leave Cork at 12.55 and arrive in Newquay at 13.45, giving a flight time of less than an hour. Flights leave Newquay at 11.20am and arrive in Cork at 12.10pm.
 
Cornwall in South West England is renowned for its natural beauty. Framed by almost 300 miles of rugged coastline it boasts some of the best surfing and bathing beaches in the country and is also home to some of the most beautiful gardens in Britain.
 
Newquay Cornwall Airport is just four miles from the stunning Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall restaurant, and a short journey from other major attractions including the Tate Gallery at St Ives and the wilds of Bodmin Moor.
