Cork Airport welcomes new link to Russian Industrial Heartland
divider

Monday, February 26th, 2007.  Management at Cork Airport  is delighted to welcome this week’s announcement that Malev Hungarian Airlines plans to link Cork to Yekaterinburg in Russia.  Malev closely co-ordinated the Budapest departures/arrivals to tie in with connections from Western Europe, guaranteeing a quick and easy transfer for passengers.

From April 26th next, the Hungarian national airline will fly four times weekly from Cork via Budapest to the industrial heartland of the Urals. Yekaterinburg is one of Russia’s key rail hubs, with seven main lines departing from the central railway station to major cities in the region.

“Yekaterinburg is also a stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway and there are daily trains to Moscow and many other cities and towns in Russia from the central railway station”, noted Kevin Cullinane, Cork Airport’s Marketing Manager. “Yekaterinburg sits on the edge of the West Siberian Plain in the Urals and is a key rail hub from which to discover Russia and all it has to offer the adventurous traveller”, he added.

This new Malev Hungarian Airlines service launching in April represents an important link between Europe and Russia as the airline strengthens its presence in the Eastern European market.  Business customers and leisure travellers can travel in style and comfort from destinations in Western Europe to Budapest in the East and then onward to Yekaterinburg.  The Hungary-Russia leg of the trip takes less than four hours.

Malev Hungarian Airlines currently offers three flights per week from Cork to Budapest with an additional fourth flight operating from the end of March. Further information and booking details are available at www.malev.com <http://www.malev.com
