April 4th, 2007. Cork Airport management is delighted to confirm that Wizz Air, Central & Europe’s largest low fare – low cost airlne, has reached the 6 millionth passenger milestone.
Wizz Air expects to reach the 7 million passenger mark in approximately three months time. The airline then expects to double its passenger figures in the next year, comfortably out performing its competitors in the marketplace.
Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport, offered his congratulations to Wizz Air on their continued growth: “Wizz Air has experienced phenomenal growth in the past three years. This impressive growth period is due to get a further boost with the addition of new aircraft over the next few months. For our part, we are delighted with the growing success of Wizz Air and wish them continued success with their popular Polish destinations of Gdansk and Katowice which operate three times weekly from Cork Airport.”
Wizz Air is Central & Eastern Europe’s largest low fare – low cost airline. The airline flies a young fleet of 180 seater Airbus A320 aircraft. With 32 new A320 aircraft on order plus 12 options Wizz Air’s fleet should consist of up to 53 aircraft by 2012. The airline operates flights from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania. Wizz Air has carried 6 million passengers since May 2004.
