July 6th, 2007.  Management at Cork Airport is delighted with Air Southwest’s decision to extend its Cork to Newquay service through to October 26th.

“The extension of the Air Southwest service between Cork and Newquay confirms the popularity of the two principal gateways to the south west of England and Ireland and underlines our commitment to meet passenger demand across our route network this summer,” said Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport.

“Cork is one of Ireland’s most vibrant cities, an important business centre and an ideal city break destination.  We are delighted it is proving popular with passengers from the South West of England and is providing a real boost to the region’s tourism industry.  We are working hard with Air Southwest to ensure the success of this new route this season and look forward to further expansion of services in the months ahead,” concluded Mr. Cullinane.

Mike Coombes, Deputy Chief Executive at Air Southwest, said: “We’ve been delighted by the response to our new service from Cork to Newquay in Cornwall.  Cornwall is a great short break destination, with world-class surfing, family attractions and top notch restaurants courtesy of Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and others.  With a flight time of under an hour from Cork to Newquay, it’s irresistible!”

Air Southwest’s Cork to Newquay service operates four days a week during the summer with a Wednesday flight introduced since June.  During the month of October flights will operate on Monday, Friday and Sunday.

Cornwall in South West England is renowned for its natural beauty. Framed by almost 300 miles of rugged coastline, it boasts some of the best surfing and bathing beaches in the country and is also home to some of the most beautiful gardens in Britain.

Newquay Cornwall Airport is just four miles from the stunning Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall restaurant, and a short journey from other major attractions including the Tate Gallery at St Ives and the wilds of Bodmin Moor.

Cornwall boasts attractions for all visitors and has developed its own unique culture and exciting and varied holiday opportunities. The area has numerous first class attractions on offer such as the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum.
