Wednesday, July 25th, 2007.  Malév Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian Airways have joined forces to launch a new service from Cork via Budapest to Amman in Jordan with flights commencing this coming Saturday, July 28th.

Irish passengers will be able to avail of the twice weekly service via Budapest on Tuesdays and Saturdays in a code-share agreement between Malév Hungarian Airlnes and Royal Jordanian.  Return air fares start from €299 plus taxes. Further information and booking details are available at www.malev.com

Passengers have the option of flying business or economy class with through-tickets, a minimum 20kg baggage allowance, allocated seat and complimentary on-board catering and beverages.  Business class passengers can avail of facilities in the Duna Club Lounge at Budapest Airport.

In future, the relationship between Malév Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian will extend to other oneworld member airlines.  In practice, this means that passengers will soon be able to purchase Malév tickets to a range of exotic new destinations never before available on the airline’s route network.

This new travel connection to Jordan opens up the beautiful coastal resort of Aqaba and provides onward access to the two gems of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Malév Hungarian Airlines serves around 60 destinations in 35 countries, mainly in Europe, including oneworld hubs Helsinki, London Gatwick, Madrid, New York’s JFK and Bangkok.

With some 3,000 staff, Malév carried more than 3 million passengers in 2006.  Its fleet of some 30 aircraft – including three Boeing 767’s used on its long haul routes, plus 18 new generation 737’s and nine regional aircraft – has an average age of five years old.  They operate around 80 departures daily in a four wave hub system at Budapest, connecting routes from the west and east.

oneworld is the world’s leading airline alliance and enables its member airlines to offer their customers services and benefits than any airline could provide on its own.  These include a broader route network, opportunities to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles and points across the combined oneworld network and more airport lounges.
