Wednesday, September 19th, 2007. Cork Airport management and staff are expecting an extremely busy October Bank Holiday Weekend with jazz fans and city break visitors alike descending on Cork.
Cork Airport expects 45,000 passengers to travel through the Airport over the Bank Holiday weekend, between Thursday, October 25th and Tuesday, October 30th. This figure represents an increase of 5.5% on last year’s October Bank Holiday Weekend. This increase is in line with the Airport’s trajectory to achieve 3.2 million passengers by year end.
With winter time beginning officially this Sunday night, the winter travel schedule also kick starts on Sunday. Aer Lingus’ new service from Cork to Munich begins on Monday next, October 29th.
Aer Lingus will also provide additional capacity on its Cork to Prague route this winter with four flights per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), ideal for winter breaks. The airline will also operate a four times weekly service from Cork to Manchester for the forthcoming winter season, with a twice weekly Lanzarote service and a once weekly service to Tenerife. On Tuesday next, October 30th, Central European airline, SkyEurope will launch its new three times weekly service from Cork to Bratislava in the Slovak Republic. The flight will operate on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays on a 149-seater 737-700 aircraft.
Bratislava Airport is within one hour’s drive of Vienna and within easy reach of Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. SkyEurope operates a Skylink shuttle bus service from Bratislava Airport to down town Vienna, which takes approximately 45 minutes.
