Air Southwest is launching a brand new route from Cork to Plymouth in the heart of Devon and increasing flights to Newquay in Cornwall in South West England by popular demand.

The major expansion plans by the low fare airline are being unveiled today, as tickets go on sale at www.airsouthwest.com from just €43 including taxes.

Flights from Cork to Plymouth will start in April 2008 and run four days a week.

Flights from Cork to Newquay have been operating three days a week during the summer season. These will restart in April 2008, six days a week, year round.

Jim Cameron, chief executive at Air Southwest said: “We are delighted with the success of the Cork-Newquay route and look forward to increasing this service. The addition of the Plymouth service means there will be even more choice for travellers wanting to explore the South West of England and I hope it will generate thousands of new visitors to Ireland too. This month marked Air Southwest’s fourth birthday and this is a fantastic way to celebrate.”

Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager at Cork Airport said: “The South West of England has so much to offer the people of Ireland and today’s announcement is a real boost to our services. We’re very pleased that Air Southwest has added the new route to Plymouth in addition to expanding its popular service to Newquay”.

Whether customers are visiting for business or pleasure, there is plenty to see and do in the South West with world class beaches, rolling countryside, harbour side towns and villages, a mild climate and top class hotels and restaurants.

Newquay is seen as one of the world’s leading surf destinations, and the Jamie Oliver-inspired Fifteen Cornwall restaurant is just a stone’s throw away, while Plymouth serves as the gateway to rugged Dartmoor and the rest of Devon. Padstow, home of Rick Stein’s famous Seafood Restaurant is just a short drive from Newquay Cornwall Airport.
