The airline adds Carcassonne to its Cork schedule

Airport management is delighted to welcome a new Ryanair route from Cork to
Carcassonne for Summer 2008.
Between the end of May and the first week of September next year, Ryanair will provide a three times weekly service from Cork to Carcassonne in the South-West of France, a very a welcome addition to Cork Airport’s Summer 2008 schedule. Ryanair currently operates flights from Cork to Dublin, Liverpool, Glasgow Prestwick, East Midlands, London Gatwick (LGW) and London Stansted (STN).
Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport said: “Cork Airport welcomes this latest addition to our ever expanding route network and Ryanair’s confidence in our ability to deliver sustained profitable routes. This early Christmas present builds on our desire to offer increased connectivity to and from Cork Airport in the year ahead. I am confident the people of Munster will show their appreciation for this expansion by supporting the new route in large numbers.”
Peter Sherrard, Director of Communications, Ryanair said: “We are delighted to announce a seventh route from our Cork base to Carcassonne. Our new flights from Cork to East Midlands and Glasgow Prestwick begin today, making it cheaper and easier than ever before for passengers to travel between Cork and Britain. In the coming year, Ryanair will carry over 1 million passengers on its seven routes from Cork, supporting 1,000 local jobs and generating a visitor spend of €150 million.
“To celebrate Ryanair’s new Carcassonne route which goes on sale today, we are offering 50,000 €10 seats on our routes from Cork to Dublin, East Midlands, Glasgow, Liverpool and London”, concluded Mr. Sherrard.
On Sunday, December 9th, Cork Airport reached the 3 million passenger figure for 2007. With three weeks to go to year end, Cork Airport served a total of 3,016,707 passengers up to and including last Sunday, December 9th.
Cork Airport remains on schedule to achieve a record 3.2 million passengers by December 31st, continuing an impressive 15 year track record of consecutive growth.
