Things to do here
Cardiff had one of the world’s busiest docks when the famous Welsh mines supplied coal to the world. As the mines closed, the Bay was eventually transformed and is now home to many important Welsh cultural institutions including the Welsh National Opera. The city’s Edwardian era arcades are also home to a mix of galleries and one-off shops include Spillers records, reputedly the oldest record shop in the world. Cardiff's busy nightlife is also buoyed by a large student population.
