Things to do here

Düsseldorf’s varied and plentiful contrasts of traditional and modern architecture allude to the dynamic tension between conservative and cutting edge that helps to define the city and its inhabitants. A vibrant nightlife includes the traditional beer halls and restaurants of the Alstadt or Old Town and the city’s world class museums rival those of many higher-profile destinations. Düsseldorf's excellent transportation network means connections to nearby cities like Cologne are also numerous and accessible.

To Eat

  1. Zum Schiffchen - this famous Altstadt restaurant, as you'd expect, specialises in hearty German cuisine. A good introduction also to the joys of the city’s famous Altbier.

  2. Brauerei im Füchschen - the ‘Little Fox’ in the Altstadt is a traditional style beer hall. Great food, excellent Altbier, and a convivial atmosphere make it a firm favourite with locals.

To Stay

  1. Hotel Orangerie - located in a quiet corner of the Altstadt, this 27 room hotel puts you within walking distance of beer halls, the river and museums. Rates include breakfast.
  2. Hyatt Regency Hotel Düsseldorf - this luxurious hotel is located in Düsseldorf’s MedienHafen district overlooking the Rhine. It offers free WiFi and modern spa facilities.
