New Routes And Services From Cork Airport In 2016

2015 was an exceptional year at Cork Airport as it celebrated 12 new route announcements in addition to welcoming a number of new airline partners.

2015 was an exceptional year at Cork Airport as it celebrated 12 new route announcements in addition to welcoming a number of new airline partners.
 
This year will see an even greater choice of destinations and nearly 400,000 additional seats available from Cork Airport with new routes and additional capacity on existing routes.
 
“2015 was a fantastic year for year for all those connected with Cork Airport and the announcement of all the new routes. We are now firmly established as Ireland’s biggest airport outside of Dublin. There are a greater number of destinations and more seats available from Cork Airport than any other airport in the region so we are unrivalled in terms of choice,” said Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director at Cork Airport.
 
“We want to thank all our passengers for their continued support and we’re looking forward to welcoming new passengers in 2016 who will experience award winning customer service here at Cork Airport,” he added.
 
New routes for 2016 include Düsseldorf with Aer Lingus, London City, Nantes and La Rochelle with CityJet, Madrid with Iberia Express, Cardiff with Flybe, Southampton and Leeds Bradford with Aer Lingus Regional as well as Menorca with Lee Travel and Stein Travel.
 
Cork Airport will also welcome its first transatlantic route with Norwegian Air as the airline is to commence its new Cork-Boston service in May 2016. The airline also announced that it will be operating a Cork-Barcelona service and plans to launch its New York service soon thereafter.
 
As well as the fantastic choice of new routes, there will also be extra capacity across some of the most popular routes from the region. Aer Lingus announced additional capacity on its Paris, Faro, Barcelona, Palma and Tenerife services.
 
Ryanair also announced increased capacity on its Faro, Reus and Bordeaux services, while Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, has increased capacity on it Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle services.
