About Alghero:

The medieval city of Alghero is situated on the northwest coast of Sardinia and is home to one of the most attractive coastal resorts on the Italian island of Sardinia. Its busy town centres are filled with delightful restaurants, tempting visitors with fresh fish, paella or the local speciality, lobster.

Pick up a souvenir or two whilst exploring the towns atmospheric squares and quirky cobbles streets which have a fascinating Catalan heritage. Alghero is also a paradise for nature lovers and a scuba diving hotspot, known for its underwater caves. If you prefer to stay on dry land, drive up to the headland of Capo Caccia and descend the dramatic cliff steps to Neptune's Grotto.

OLD TOWN Cultural

Explore the old town and take a stroll through it’s charming historic centre, know as the Old Town or Centro Storico. Walk along the narrow cobblestone street, admire the medieval architecture and browse the boutique shops and local artisan workshops.

Cathedral of Santa Maria CULTURAL

Visit the magnificent 16th century Cathedral of Santa Maria located in the heart of the old town with its ornate façade and beautiful interior which includes stunning frescoes and a majestic altar.

Neptune’s Grotto Attraction

Take a boat trip and explore Neptune’s Grotto, a remarkable sea cave located about 25km from Alghero. Marvel at its stalactites and stalagmites and enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
