Cork Airport Hotting Up For A Busy Summer

May 26, 2015

Cork Airport is preparing for a busy summer season as the June Bank Holiday approaches. There are over 1.6 million seats available from Munster’s biggest airport to all the favourite sun and city destinations this summer, including a new route to beautiful island of Ibiza. There is a fantastic choice of other popular sun destinations including the Canary Islands, Alicante, Barcelona or Malaga, Faro and the picturesque Jersey Island.

Cork Airport also has two further new routes to the Welsh capital of Cardiff and the City of Hundred Spires, Prague. Holidaymakers can also explore European city breaks in London, Paris, Bordeaux, Rennes, Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich, Gdansk, Milan, Pisa and Wroclaw.

All of these great destinations can be booked with Aer Lingus, Aer Lingus Regional operated by Stobart Air, Ryanair, CSA Czech Airlines and Flybe as well as some Ireland’s leading tour operators including Topflight, Concorde, Falcon, Sunway and Travelfox.

Additionally this summer, people can book through FlyCork.ie, a new site that offers exclusive packages at great prices. There are plenty of special deals currently on offer including a 7 night holiday in Alicante from just €290 per person, a week-long family break in Algarve for €283 per person sharing or 7 nights in Lanzarote for €389 per person – all in June.

Commenting on the great choice available from Cork Airport this summer Managing Director Niall MacCarthy said: “We’re delighted to announce three new destinations for this season’s summer schedule as well as the recommencement of the popular Rennes and Jersey routes.

“Flying direct from Cork Airport has never been easier and you can also book your summer break via FlyCork.ie. With 44 scheduled services this Summer together with charter bringing the total choice to over 50 services, there is something for everyone from Cork Airport,  be it weekend, sun or city break.”

Mr. MacCarthy also had advice for passengers flying from Cork Airport this summer: “Summer is always a busy time at the airport with passenger numbers rising at peak times. With this in mind, we always advise passengers to get here in plenty of time; we recommend at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

“There’s also plenty of parking at the airport, costing less than a €5 a day when booked online. And all our carparks are very close to the terminal so it’s only a short walk.

“Make sure you’re prepared for security screening, put anything metal in the trays provided as well as your coat. Always take laptops out of their cases and put them in separate trays. And don’t forget about the limits on carry-on liquids, it’s 100 millilitres. Liquids, gels and lotions are to be put into a see-through plastic bag and taken out of your carry-on luggage.

“Finally, we hope all our passengers fly friendly and enjoy their summer holidays,” he said.

Cork Airport is the international gateway to the south of Ireland and is uniquely positioned at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East.  It is the country’s second largest and busiest airport after Dublin and with more choice than any other airport outside of Dublin. More than two million passengers travel through the airport each year, flying to top destinations across the UK and throughout continental Europe. Cork Airport’s customer service (as voted by passengers) has won national and international awards.
