Cork Airport Managing Director, Niall MacCarthy commented:

“The Covid-19 pandemic dealt a drastic blow to the entire aviation industry throughout 2020 and 2021. However, with the easing of restrictions combined with huge pent-up demand we expect 2022 to be a bumper year for Cork Airport.”

“Cork Airport remained open throughout the pandemic providing essential connectivity for repatriation, cargo and essential travel. Now that restrictions are eased, we are in pole position to recover fast and provide the friendly, easy gateway for over 1.8 million people to travel into and out of the South of Ireland in 2022. In 2021, we completed the reconstruction of our main runway and our airside electrical systems in record time and on budget to safeguard our future and we are confident that this runway will be very busy in the year ahead,” he added.
