A feast of traditional Irish music, singing, dance and conversation will start tonight as Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan 2025 gets underway in Cork city. The largest provincial celebration of traditional Irish culture will take place from July 12 – 19 and will be officially opened tonight in Cork City Hall. The opening ceremony will be followed by a special concert with renowned traditional Irish music performing group, Téada, in the MTU Cork School of Music on Union Quay.
Throughout the coming week, attendees can enjoy a variety of concerts, workshops, storytelling sessions and street performances. Highlights include a traditional singing workshop for children, a walking tour of Cork City, a sean-nós dancing workshop, concerts, street entertainment, an Ogham carving workshop and music trail. This year’s Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan also includes a variety of music sessions in pubs across the city, all contributing to the wider celebration of traditional Irish culture. Competitions form a core part of the Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan, and talented performers from across Munster will compete in music, dance, and storytelling events at the MTU Bishopstown Campus - serving as qualifiers for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
