Cork Airport welcomed 342,387 passengers during June. Passenger numbers in June were up 22% when compared to pre-COVID levels (June 2019). Since January 1, the airport has welcomed a total of 1,619,373 passengers which is showing a slight 1% decrease on the previous year – the airport’s busiest year ever. This represents a changing mix in 2026 versus 2025 with more KLM and Air France passengers and less Ryanair passengers. Year-to-date passengers to end of June 2026 are up 34% on pre-COVID levels.

UK provincial traffic continues to perform strongly, with passenger numbers up +7% in June, compared with last year. Traffic on Ryanair’s Liverpool route was up +37%, in line with capacity increases, while passenger traffic on Aer Lingus Regional’s Bristol and Glasgow services increased by +4% and 18% respectively.

KLM Royal Dutch Airline’s three-times daily service to Amsterdam Schiphol continues to go from strength to strength, with +46% more passengers travelling on the route last month compared to June 2025. Passenger traffic on other key continental European routes also experienced growth last month, with Ryanair’s Brussels Charleroi service up +15%; SWISS International Air Lines’ Zurich service up 26% and Ryanair’s Barcelona service up +5%.

At the start of last month, Cork Airport welcomed the newest addition to the route map when Aer Lingus’ new route to Santiago de Compostela took off on the June Bank Holiday weekend. Santiago is the second northern Spanish route available from Cork Airport and provides direct access to Spain’s Galicia region.

Commenting on June passenger traffic, Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director at Cork Airport said: “June passenger numbers at 342,387 were slightly down on the same month in the prior year due to the effects of some market consolidation. On a year-to-date basis up to June 30, we are tracking -1% versus the same period last year, which was our busiest year ever. We’re delighted that Aer Lingus started flying its summer seasonal Santiago de Compostela service in June, connecting Cork with the Spain’s idyllic Galicia region. Meanwhile, despite passenger numbers being up 23% in June on pre-COVID levels, and a very busy capital programme underway, the passenger journey at Cork Airport is as friendly and seamless as ever.”
